What To Look For When Choosing A Coach

I was talking with Jake the other day and we got into the topic of all the non-sense we see in the fitness industry (gosh I hate that word).  There's SO much crap out there it's ridiculous.  So it got me thinking... "what should you look for when choosing a coach"?

I came up with a pretty simple answer.

choose a coach that has or does what you want to have/achieve

I've seen so much crazy stuff--thanks to the advancement of the internet.

I've seen trainers/coaches make their students do things they themselves would never do. And I ask myself, why?

I'm obviously a kettlebell homer and have drank the StrongFirst cool-aid so I'm gonna take my students through what I've learned as the most efficient way to get fit for Jiu-Jitsu.

Which is...

USING KETTLEBELLS!

How weird would it be if I took my students through a random exercise program which had nothing to do with kettlebells?!

I remember Jake telling me a while back the reason he started training kettlebells with me was because...

he was blown away by how strong my legs were when we rolled.

I think Jake would have been confused when he showed up for day 1 and I had him doing other random exercises which had nothing to do with how I actually trained for Jiu-Jitsu.

So when you're choosing a coach--choose a coach whom takes you through the same process they took to get to where they are.

Gotta run.
