(Part 3) The Path of Ascension

[2001]

I started my first business when I bought my own territory to run a bread business here in Corpus Christi. To my knowledge no one in my family had ever started their own business.

For 12 years I focused on building a business, getting better at Jiu-Jitsu, becoming the strongest version of myself, and making money.

In all of those, I did very well based on the results I was seeing.

But the one thing which never changed were the stories I continued to tell myself––and the rage within me.

It was crazy.

Any little thing would set me off. Whether I was at work, strength training, or Jiu-Jitsu.

The real problem?

Everything I mentioned above, I encountered on my "Path of Ascension." One of the 4 paths we take when we encounter "the wound."

For years, I avoided tough conversations with myself and "rose above my wounds."

When we take this path we cannot learn from the wound because... we've risen so far above the wound... we can no longer relate to it.

The Path of Ascension is living a life of avoidance. A temptation all men will battle until the end of time. It's the temptation––and pattern––handed to us from Adam, passivity.

I unpack the Path of Passivity in more detail, here.

Appreciate you reading, and watching.
