What’s Your Purpose, Are You Being Fulfilled?
One of the sad things I see over and over as I go through social media is, the amount of un-fulfillment and lack of purpose I see my fellow dads display.
This was me over 10 years ago. I was running a business that I truly wasn't passionate about, even though I was earning a 6 figure a year income.
At the end of the day...
I was not happy.
It was effecting my ability to become the husband and father God called me to be. I would voice this concern every night to my wife before I went to bed.
I was unhappy with my situation... so I CHANGED IT!!
Do You Know Your Purpose?
When I ask this question to people I usually get a weird look, many people don't know their purpose...
...the compelling "why" that drives them to wake up everyday and do whatever it takes to fulfill their mission in life.
I didn't even know my purpose up until 10 years ago.
I realized my purpose in life in 2006, when I came across the kettlebell.
I knew instantly this was something I needed to share with the world! I became obsessed with learning everything I could about the human body and kettlebells.
My first introduction to the kettlebell was from a book called, "Enter The Kettlebell" by Pavel Tsatsouline.
So I began to study ALL of Pavel's (StrongFirst.com) work and read every other book and article he put out.
I studied all of Gray Cook's work (FunctionMovement.com) and read his book "Movement" and many other articles.
I attended every event, workshop, and certification that both Pavel or Gray Cook taught at again...
I was obsessed (I still do this).
I knew this stuff was real, I knew what I taught really worked, and I knew that anyone could to it!

This is the day I took my stand, I was ready to create a disturbance in the fitness community, dedicate every ounce of my being and that's when...
I opened the doors of The Hardstyle Kettlebell Club in CC, Tx. It's been a challenging journey. But I know at Hardstyle we are trail blazing and taking a path less traveled.
You mean all you use is a kettlebell?
What will I do for cardio?
What will I do for my arms and abs?
There's no way I can get everything I need from this one training tool.
I just can't see how I can get an efficient workout in 30 minutes.
These are the types of things I would here and questions I would get... I still do. I've lost many students because I was not "working them out", I was not "kicking their A**", etc, etc...

But here's the thing...
Once I discovered my purpose and what I was passionate about, I no longer "looked forward to the weekends" and I no longer "thanked God it was Friday".
Because everyday is a new day for me to possibly change someone's life with this thing called a kettlebell and in a gym that I was told would never make it as a "kettlebell only gym."
That's MY Purpose.
Now is life perfect?
HECK NO!
I struggle everyday being the husband and father I've been called to be. But, my new struggle is growing something that I have created from nothing!
I encourage you to take some time to figure out what YOU like and what you're passionate about.
There is something inside each and everyone of us and our wives and children are waiting for us to take a stand and draw a line in the sand...
Are you the rock?
Or are you the river?
At the end of the day, we have the power to create something from nothing and become the man we were called to be!
We were called to be GREAT!
